Information on the history of jewelry marked Regency or Regency Jewels is sparse. Still, researchers have noted that it was marketed by Regina Novelty Company located in New York,
New York, from about 1950 through 1970. It appears the Polowitz family owned the business, and the dates of production are estimated based on the styles of the jewelry
made.
While most Regency jewelry is marked with an oval metal plaque, there are some exceptions. This is especially true with earrings. The earrings found unmarked can usually be
matched up with signed pieces to identify them firmly. Beaded jewelry has also been found with “Fleur
de Paris by Regency” foil hang tags from time to time. Those pieces were made with imported French glass according to the reverse side of the tags.
